Home Up The Crew The Yacht The Fun

I took a short distraction from plating to make and fit an aft water-tight bulkhead.  Originally we had intended to have a plywood one but we have now built an alloy division to separate the aft stowage area from the vessels interior.

By mid month the second layer has been completed.  At this stage I have decided to fit the transom, which took about 3 days but now the overall length of the yacht has been defined as has the shape of the stern.  It is very thrilling to see the structure take shape and grow into a yacht.
Before proceeding with the third layer I checked the waterline level and centreline.  A problem became apparent.  The bow had started to lift by about 10mm.  I pulled it back down and then fixed the bow and stern down to the floor.  At this stage the hull is level all bar a 5mm rise at the bow and 3mm off centre in a very small section amidships.  I am very happy with those tolerances on a structure measuring 15m by 4.5m x 2.5m.
