Home Up The Crew The Yacht The Fun

The deck is fixed to the hull by a 50mm tube forming a rounded surface edge.  These tubes took a considerable time to fit but once completed I was able to lift the hull with wooden wedges to level it on the waterlines and create the camber across the deck.
Once the hull was lifted 300mm or so I was able to fit the ring frame (21) and forward crash bulkhead (28).  I had been delayed by some missing lifting plates but when these finally arrived I fitted them through the deck tubes and then continued to fabricate the ring frame (20) that incorporates all the chain plates.  Once complete this was welded to the deck structure.
August has been a very productive month and the last job was to fit the 10mm reinforcing section on the bow for the chain stoppers and bollards to be seated on.

I had some problems with the bow plate that had not been correctly formed; this had to be returned to Mekon but also a 100mm gap was evident between the stem and the forestay fitting.
